Brian Richey finally broke through for hist first win on Wednesday afternoon at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club. Richey played very consistent at Jovita's tough South course, firing nines of 34, 34 and finishing with only two bogeys. His (-4) 68 was good enough to win the $1,000 first place check over close friend Travis Perkins (-3) 69 and Florida State alum Seath Lauer (-3) 69. T.J. Heidel fired a smooth (-2) 70 and Abs Mawji (-1) 71 continued his fine play rounding out the top 5.
Many of the players who signed up for Wednesday's event at Lake Jovita will compete in the PGA Tour's Pre Qualifying School later this month. The West Florida Golf Tour was delighted to be able to have its players play a competitive round on Jovita's South course, which has hosted numerous Q-School Events. We would like to wish all of our players luck as Q-School approaches and would like to thank Jonathan Lee and his staff for all their hard work! It was greatly appreciated.
After a couple days off, the WFGT heads towards home in Sarasota/Bradenton for events at Legacy Golf Club on Tuesday and the newly renovated Bent Tree Friday!!! |
