David Steele's birdie on the second playoff hole locked up his first win on The West Florida Golf Tour at West Bay Golf and Beach Club Monday afternoon. His win over Joshua McCumber marked another day of playoff drama on the WFGT. Steele and McCumber both shot rounds of 68 to earn their playoff berths. Finishing in a tie for third at (-1) 71's were Ritz-Carlton winner Justin McCarraher and River Strand victor Matthew Saglio.
The West Bay Beach Club worked tirelessly through the morning to prepare the course after torrential downpours soaked the West Coast of Florida yesterday afternoon and through the evening. Once ready for play, the players raved about this Pete Dye Course that has hosted several U.S. Open qualifiers as well as many other prestigious local events. The WFGT would like to take this opportunity and thank the West Bay staff for all its hard work!!!
Next week, The WFGT heads closer to home in Venice, Fl. where it will host its 30 event of its inaugural season at Sarasota National. |
