Stephen Thomas got his first win Sunday afternoon at the Ritz-Carlton Member's Club by defeating Matt Saglio on the first hole of sudden death. Thomas waited around much of the day, before finding out if his 69 would be good enough for the win. It earned him a spot in the playoff where he pared the 473 yard eighteenth for the victory. Also breaking par and rounding out the top 5 were Sam Komar and Danny Evelyn at (-2) 70. Along with Seath Lauer, who finished with (-1) 71.
The golf course was the clear winner today measuring well over 7,300 yards and causing all sorts of havoc for many of the players. The wind gusts of close to 20 mph and the 1 3/4 inch rough was at times unbearable. Only 5 players broke par and (+2) 74 earned a last place check.
The two day bonus money for players who participated in both events over the weekend went to Adam Hogue and Seath Lauer, both who finished with 2 round totals of 140. They will each recieve a gift certificate to the Ritz-Carlton for their fine play. The WFGT wants to thank all its players for a great weekend of competitive golf!!!
The Tour rolls on this Wednesday, when we head north to Lake Jovita for a Q-School preview.
