Brennan Webb's (-5) 67 was good enough to best tour leader Joey Lamielle's (-4) 68 on Monday afternoon to claim his 2nd victory on the West Florida Golf Tour. On a day when the heat index climbed well over 100 degrees, Webb kept his cool making no bogeys to go along with his 5 birdies. His nines of 33 and 34, along with his recent play has climbed him to third on the WFGT money list, as the relatively young Tour quickly approaches the $100,000 dollar mark for the year.
Joey Lamielle finished second with his 68, a round that also had no bogeys. Rounding out the top 5 were a trio of players at (-3) 69. Billy Stewart, who will make his way to the Pennsylvania State Open later this week, made an eagle and three birdies, Donald Sisemore, who shot consistent nines of 34-35 and TPC of Tampa winner Matt Galloway, all played well to earn checks.
The West Florida Golf Tour was also blessed to have two future woman stars in the field on Monday, Jessica Korda and Sookhee Baek. Korda, who has finished in the top 20 in a U.S. Woman's Open, played very well shooting 69 and Futures Tour member Baek finished with 78.
Next Monday, the Tour heads a little south to West Bay Golf Club, in Estero FL. |
