Q-School Preview Event at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club - 9/7/2011
Jake Katz accepts his $1,000 winners check from Tour Director Christian Bartolacci.
Dade City, FL.
Jake Katz overcame a harsh ruling that cost him the victory in regulation, only to rectify the situation by birdieing the first two playoff holes for his first professional victory. Katz didn't let a casual water ruling get in the way of accomplishing something that only three other West Florida Golf Tour members have done, win in their first pro start. His (-6) 66 tied him with Bartow's Kelly Sellers for the top spot on what was a very soggy day at Lake Jovita. Finishing tied for third were a slue of players at (-4) 68 that included Nationwide Tour member Travis Hampshire, Billy Stewart, Hampton Ballard, Adam Fox, Matt Springer and local product Cole Cisbani.
The WFGT would like to thank Lake Jovita for preparing the course after heavy rains flooded the property overnight. The course drained well and should be in great shape for the PGA TOURS Pre Qualifier next week. We would like to wish all of today's participants luck next week!
The win moved Katz into the top spot of the Q-School Match Play money list, where he will try and stay in the top 4 through the fall season.
